So that's why I love dragons. It all makes sense now. I want to kidnap a princess!

marin

Yowch. You wouldn't think Pixelmon would threaten them, but I guess their bad rep is... well founded.

marin

I can say one thing. They've never been awful about those.

Remember when Capcom officially licensed Street Fighter x Mega Man, another fangame?

Probably the same appeal behind all those wolf and cat RPs

Goes to add img-crisp to her bbcode guide. Realizes she already did ages ago. Goodness my memory is terrible. |D

They made games harder to get into in the name of fairness, took away the ability for people to remain in a server after a match. All of those things were important to the sense of community pre-patch, but made sense from the perspective of them wanting to be more like a sport. A more streamlined, varied experience similar to Overwatch's.

And when I look at TF2 and how it tried to hop on the E-sports bandwagon, I noticed that they made a lot of strange decisions that didn't make sense from the perspective of someone who was already playing the game as a game and not a sport. It seems like there's a completely different mindset building an E-Sport game than a regular game.

You have to learn how to play and then practice to be competitive in order to really have fun for the most part, just like an e-sport.

For example, an E-sport is usually designed to be entertaining to watch first and foremost, rather than to be entertaining to play. Sort of like a real sport. You can't just decide on a whim to play professional football. You'll have a terrible time, because the sport revolves around entertaining a crowd first and foremost.
